Dalmation Isopods (Porcellio scaber)

Dalmatian Isopods (Porcellio scaber) are an ideal choice for those looking for the perfect isopod species. These small, hardy critters are easy to care for and thrive in a variety of different environments. Known for their unique black and white spotted pattern, they are sure to make a great addition to any isopod collection. Temperature-wise, Porcellio scaber prefer to be kept in a range between 68 and 86°F and they do require some lighting, but not as much light as other isopods. Substrate-wise, porcellio scaber isopods need a mix of peat moss and coco coir to keep them comfortable, and we've found that they eat a lot of leaf litter.
